“Telepresence origins and future prospects”

Prof. Thomas. B. Sheridan

Thomas Sheridan is Professor Emeritus in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. His research interests are in experimentation, modeling, and design of human-machine systems in air, highway and rail transportation, space and undersea robotics, process control, arms control, telemedicine, and virtual reality. Serena Ivaldi

Serena Ivaldi is a senior research scientist in the Inria Center of the University of Lorraine and Loria, and head of the Human Centered Robotics Team (HUCEBOT). Her research is currently focused on robots collaborating with humans. She is interested in combining machine learning with control to improve the prediction, adaptation, and interaction skills of robots. She obtained the Suzanne Zivi Award 2020 for excellence in research and was nominated by Robohub and Women in Robotics in the list of “50 Women in Robotics you need to know about” in 2021.
